Taking Field Grown (Tree) Inventory with Your Pocket PC The advanced modular design of ActiveApplications allows your company to become more productive by using Pocket PC computers. These small and portable devices allow UDS to create well defined applications that can be integrated with the entire ActiveApplications suite of programs. These applications are powerful in what they accomplish but are limited in what they can do by the small size and capacity of the Pocket PC. The Field Grown (Tree) Inventory software will allow you to visit the inventory location to update your on hand quantities and adjust sizing of inventory items when necessary. The inventory person will carry with them a Pocket PC loaded with this software package. This is an inventory management application. The series of pictures below are actual screens that are displayed by the Pocket PC running this software. We hope this will serve to demonstrate the easy-to-use interface we've designed into this Pocket PC application. The inventory person will be able to enter all information with little more than a tap on the screen. This minimizes the possibility of human error while allowing this function to be performed more efficiently. The information entered into this hand held device is then available for the full function Active Accounting program to import. Because the inventory person is not tied to your main computer system, this application can be run anywhere. Only when passing the information to the main computer is it necessary to be connected to your network. Expanding the possibilities and improving your productivity is what makes ActiveApplications your only choice in accounting software for your company. Steps in Procedure Starting the application on the Pocket PC opens a list of current inventory locations as demonstrated in fig 1. This is the "Select Location" screen as the title on the window indicates. Click on location B10, 68th St 10 Acres, to select it for an update.
The screen changes to the "Select Item" screen in order to show all the items in location B10 and their corresponding on hand quantities. The user can scroll the screen to the right to see more information about the individual items if they choose. Let's say the inventory person finds there are 12 less 3q size Acers and 12 additional 5q size Acers. A 'sizing' adjustment can easily be made to correct for this growth. Click on any Acer item. fig 2
Fig 3 shows the screen changes to the "Matching Items" window in order to display all possible sizes of these Acers in your item table. The items tagged with an asterisk symbol indicate that these are assigned to location B10. Quantity 12 must be added to the 5q size item number 00005 which is presently at zero. Select item 00005 by tapping directly on the screen. fig 3
A numeric pad is displayed to make the entry of quantity 12 easy for the user. The screen also displays helpful information to remind the user which item they are adjusting and into what location. The current before change quantity of zero is also noted. Clicking the Add button will add 12 units to the on hand quantity of this item into this location. fig 4
The screen returns to the "Matching Items" window and shows that 12 units have been added to item number 00005 and this item is also tagged with an asterisk indicating it is now included in this location. Note also that the before total of 1495 is displayed along with the Current Quantity total of 1507 so that the user can keep track of their adjustments. In this case the user must now adjust the on hand quantity of the 3q size item number 00003 down by 12 units. The user selects the item by clicking on it from the list. fig 5
The familiar numeric pad is displayed again and displays the current status of the selected item. fig 6
The user keys in the quantity 483 which is 12 less than 495. Select Add to confirm the new on hand quantity entered. fig 7
The screen flips back to the "Matching Items" window again and we see the users final adjustments have been successful. Since the change the user made was one of 'sizing' only, we can see that the "Current Quantity" shown is still 1495. All items are tagged with an asterisk. If the user had further modifications to make, they would select the Back to Items button on the window as shown in fig 8. fig 8
